Job Summary: The Community Investment Officer is responsible for grantmaking and related activities in the areas of discretionary, committee-advised, donor-advised, and component fund grantmaking, as well as nonprofit engagement, and will support nonprofit capacity building and community engagement efforts, as well as the Community Foundation’s scholarship program.

- Grant review and presentation for discretionary grant programs
- Presentations, workshops, and conversations with nonprofit partners and potential grantees
- Nonprofit engagement and collaboration
- Supporting the design and execution of community engagement and nonprofit capacity building efforts
- Support for the scholarship team, including participation in scoring and selections.
- Serving on community-focused boards and committees to help strengthen the Community Foundation’s strategic goals
- Attend nonprofit sector-related trainings, community meetings, and events
- Participate in employee trainings, including diversity, equity, and inclusion training.
- Experience in nonprofit management, administration, human services, social science or other related fields – five years preferred o Experience and/or knowledge of the Muskegon nonprofit sector, and grantmaking practices, and scholarship best practices
- Experience working with diverse populations o Excellent planning and analytical skills
- Experience with database management and data entry o Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint
- Willingness to become proficient with Fondant software (CSuite, GLM & SLM) o Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, where roles and responsibilities may adjust based on skills and project needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with public speaking and presentation experience o Personal commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion

- Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
