What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Material Handler (6a-2p) position at Fraser Steel Company?
Fraser Steel is seeking a dependable 1st Shift Material Handler to support production operations by ensuring materials, supplies, and parts are delivered efficiently throughout the facility. This hands-on role includes moving materials, operating forklifts and cranes, assisting with shop organization and scrap removal, and supporting production as needed. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 1st Shift hours are 6a-2p.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- · Be the primary material handling resource for production operators and leads
- · Provide support to production operations by constantly ensuring operators have necessary parts
- · Move parts (in bins, pallets, etc.) between machines and inventory, etc.
- · To keep facility clean and supplies stocked
- · Empty scrap bins throughout the production shop
- · Operate forklift and cranes as needed
- · Forklift use, safety checks, minor repair
- · Assisting in production (i.e. moving materials, running machines, testing parts, washing parts, dumping scrap bins, etc.)
- · Checking and recording coolant levels and concentration
- · Other duties as assigned
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- · High school/G.E.D. education
- · 1 or more years material handling or shipping and/or receiving experience in a lean manufacturing environment
- · Production/shop familiarity
- · Problem solver who identifies opportunities for improvement with solution paths
- · Ability to balance multiple concurrent projects and prioritize needs, and meet deadlines
- · Ability to communicate with people at all levels within the company
- · Ability to use computers and basic programs to document
- · Knowledge of OSHA regulations is a plus
- Physical strength required to handle and move parts, boxes, equipment, etc.
