Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional administrative support. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient patient flow, managing medical records, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The Medical Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for patients, requiring excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of medical terminology and office procedures. Some back office assistance will be needed. 9-5 Monday-Thursday. Some Fridays possible, no nights or weekends. Also need to travel to Newbury Park one day a week. Pay commensurate with experience. Charter/ CCI grads and those with hospitality background are welcome to apply. Friendly, hard workers are especially welcome. Will train.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform insurance verification and assist with medical billing processes.
- Handle multi-line phone systems to manage incoming calls efficiently.
- Process medical documentation, including CPT and ICD coding.
- Assist with the collection of payments and manage medical collections as necessary.
- Review care plans and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Utilize EMR systems.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing correspondence.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate patient care and services.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role within a medical or dental office is preferred but will train.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical billing software is helpful.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management is helpful.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a must.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are helpful.
- Excellent customer service skills with an emphasis on patient service and phone etiquette are vital for success in this role.
- Experience in clinic or hospital settings is advantageous.
