Overview
Responsible for the supervision of the teller area. Guide and advise MSR/Tellers in the efficient and accurate handling of member needs. Solve member problems, resolve MSR/Teller issues, and help with complex work-related matters. Performs a variety of duties related to the MSR/Teller function within Franklin Trust Federal Credit Union as needed. Ensure a high level of accuracy in all MSR/teller transactions.
Responsibilities
1. Assist Operations Manager in the teller area by scheduling hours, assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, helping with complex transaction and sensitive member relations problems, and explaining policies and procedures to staff and members.
2. Ensure staff is trained and cross-trained in all phases of their particular jobs and in all credit union products and services to ensure the highest quality of service to members.
3. Maintain a highly motivated, well-trained staff.
4. Oversee work schedules for MSR/Tellers to ensure proper service to the membership.
5. Establish and maintain effective employee relations. Resolve employee relation issues.
6. Evaluate job performance of subordinates to ensure quality of work and service to members.
7. Develop, apply, and evaluate policies and procedures for the department. Ensure staff comply with policies and procedures and understand changes in requirements. Maintain a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures and trends in the credit union industry, with particular attention to the Bank Secrecy Act, PATRIOT Act, and with robbery procedures.
8. Hold periodic staff meetings to discuss areas needing improvement, changes in procedures, new developments or services, and to present general information. Encourage the exchange of ideas.
9. Manage and recommend the purchase of equipment and supplies.
10. Assist staff as required with member questions or any transactional question that needs clarification.
11. Investigate MSR/Teller losses and institute corrective flow of work and/or corrective disciplinary action.
12. Serve as vault teller, to include ordering cash, verifying cash received, filling MSR/Teller cash orders, maintaining vault security and balancing vault cash nightly. Oversee a proper availability/maintain an adequate supply of daily cash and negotiable items for the credit union.
13. Approve member exceptions and authorize service fee refunds to members when necessary.
14. Identify and promote credit union products and services to improve our member’s financial lives. Use every member interaction as an opportunity to learn how FTFCU can add value to our member’s financial goals.
15. Maintain working knowledge of all State and Federal regulations that are applicable to the transactions performed in the MSR/Teller area to ensure compliance, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
16. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous teller or banking/credit union experience required.
- Previous experience as a Head Teller, Lead Teller, or similar role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of teller operations, cash handling, and member service.
- Experience training, coaching, or mentoring employees preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain procedures clearly and patiently.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential member and financial information.
- Ability to lead by example and work effectively as part of a team.
Pay: $27.01 - $29.00 per hour
