What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Facilities/Maintenance Worker position at Franklin Simpson Parks and Recreation?
Overview
Under the direction of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor, the Parks Facilities/Grounds Maintenance Worker performs routine maintenance repairs of buildings and grounds. This includes (but is not limited to) mowing, cleaning, patching, painting, hardware repairs, landscaping, plumbing, welding, equipment repair, concrete forming and basic carpentry. Special tasks such as event setup and cleanup or emergency response may be part of the duties of the employee as well.
Skills/Duties

- Operates tractors, mowers, loaders, skid steer loaders, vehicles, and lifts.
- Performs shop tasks such as welding, cutting, servicing mowers and golf carts and sharpening blades and chains.
- Maintains lawns, gardens and other outdoor areas including tasks such as mowing, pruning, planting, spraying, mulching and weed control.
- Assists with event set-up and break-down including moving furniture, setting up displays, tables and chairs and ensuring proper staging for events.
- Installs, inspects, and repairs playground equipment.
- Assists in forming and pouring sidewalks, slabs and footings.
- Builds framing, footers, walls, bridges, and other new construction.
- Follows work request procedures, completing documentation for work performed, creates estimates for supplies and order when needed.
- Paints buildings and structures as needed.
- Adheres to safety regulations and identifies potential hazards to ensure a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, and mower equipment maintenance and repair.
Qualifications
- High School graduate of GED equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of the maintenance and repair procedures and techniques used in parks or grounds maintenance preferred.
- Valid State of Kentucky Driver's license or ability to obtain one
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lateral mobility over various terrains, ability to climb, lift items above head, stoop, bend, squat, sort, kneel, reach to overhead levels, hold and/or grip hand tools. Ability to tolerate various weather conditions as required. Ability to push and pull to 75 lbs. unassisted. The employee must maintain the physical requirements to successfully perform the job duties.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
