Summary
Franklin Road Academy seeks a long-term substitute for an Upper School Science teacher. The term will last from August 6, 2026, through December 18, 2026. Candidates should have experience teaching physics and chemistry. Candidates should desire to be a part of a collaborative faculty that resonates with FRA's mission to develop leaders of integrity in an inclusive Christian community. This position requires close coordination with other grade-level teachers. The department will meet regularly to share best practices and ensure a collegial atmosphere of growth and development. Candidates for this position should have a passion for science and have a desire to grow as instructors and mentors of students. All teachers at FRA are advisors of groups of 8-10 students that meet 4 times per week. Teachers are encouraged to integrate themselves into the school community.

Essential Functions
The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Follow and modify (as needed) pre-planned curriculum to meet the needs of the class through the creation of assessments of various types
- Serve as advisor for a group of 8-10 students
- Meet regularly with their department to ensure streamlined curricula, expectations, and best-practice pedagogy
- Performs general teaching tasks such as tracking attendance, assigning homework, grading assignments, giving feedback, and communicating effectively with students at all skill levels
- Maintains regularly scheduled office hours and other faculty responsibilities
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in subject area or related field
- Experience in teaching upper school students
- Experience with current software, current hardware, and computer applications
- Demonstrates a passion for and expertise in teaching
- Eagerness to research and learn new technologies and bring them into the classroom
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Collaborative personality
