Franklin Road Academy seeks a long-term substitute for an Upper School Science teacher. The term will last from August 6, 2026, through December 18, 2026. This position requires close coordination with other grade-level teachers. The department will meet regularly to share best practices and ensure a collegial atmosphere of growth and development. Candidates for this position should have a passion for science and have a desire to grow as instructors and mentors of students. All teachers at FRA are advisors of groups of 8-10 students that meet 4 times per week. Teachers are encouraged to integrate themselves into the school community.

Essential Functions
The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Follow and modify (as needed) pre-planned curriculum to meet the needs of the class through the creation of assessments of various types
- Serve as advisor for a group of 8-10 students
- Meet regularly with their department to ensure streamlined curricula, expectations, and best-practice pedagogy
- Performs general teaching tasks such as tracking attendance, assigning homework, grading assignments, giving feedback, and communicating effectively with students at all skill levels
- Maintains regularly scheduled office hours and other faculty responsibilities
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in subject area or related field
- Experience in teaching upper school students
- Experience with current software, current hardware, and computer applications
- Demonstrates a passion for and expertise in teaching
- Eagerness to research and learn new technologies and bring them into the classroom
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Collaborative personality
