Extended School Year - GOALS Elementary Special Education TeacherPosition Type: Summer School PositionLocation: Washington Street SchoolsReports to: Building PrincipalSalary: $156.00 per dayDates/Hours: July 6, 2026 - August 6, 2026* - Hours: 3.5 hours/day

Elementary: 4 days/week; M, T, W, TH Students in session 3 hours from 9:00 AM 12:00 PM
Teachers need to be present 8:45 AM - 12:15 PM
30 minutes/day of prep time is built into the daily rate*dates subject to changeSuccessful applicant must be available for the full duration of the programGeneral Description:As part of its special education programming, Extended School Year (ESY) Services are provided to eligible students. Franklin offers a number of ESY programs from preschool through high school. Extended School Year services are provided to students who meet one or more of the criteria for such services as outlined in special education law. Typically, eligible students require services because they have demonstrated or are likely to demonstrate substantial regression in his/her learning skills and/or substantial difficulty relearning such skills if an extended year program is not provided. Overview of Responsibilities:
- Plan and organize small group instruction in a setting for students with social-emotional, Autism Spectrum, and complex learning disabilities
- Organize structured day of academic, social, and recreational opportunities
- Provide maintenance instruction in reading, writing, math, social skills and behavioral strategies
- Assign assistant(s) to student and program responsibilities
- Coordinate with related service staff (OT, PT, SLP, Psychologist)
- Communicate with parents
- Write student progress reports at end of program
Qualifications Required:Special education teaching licensure required; knowledge of and experience withtherapeutic and academic strategies and interventions for students, behavior management and avariety of specialized instructional techniques in social skills, reading, written language and math.
- Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
