FRANKLIN-MCKINLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASS TITLE: BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION SPECIALIST Classified Manager BASIC FUNCTION: Plans, organizes, coordinates, supervises and is responsible for providing supportive consulting services to assist staff and families in the development and implementation of comprehensive behavior plans for students. Trains, monitors, supervises, and evaluates Behavioral Therapists. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to design, implement and evaluate behavior plans for identified students. E Directs and schedules activities of Behavioral Therapists. E Participates in IEP meetings. Develop, write and implement effective behavior plans. Conduct Functional Analysis Assessments, Full Functional Behavioral Assessments, and other behavior assessments as needed. E Confers with school administrators, teachers, and site staff concerning individual student progress toward behavior plan goals and training of staff. Assures compliance with governmental regulations, codes, and reporting requirements. E Plan and conduct Student Progress Meetings with available data and information. Coordinate with school personnel to develop behavioral goals and objectives. Coordinate with administrators to develop and implement behavioral services. Assure educational programs meet the intensive needs of the students with behavioral challenges. E Plan and implement quality in-service programs for classroom teachers and staff. Assist in the interviewing and selection of employees. Provide technical expertise, information and assistance to the Special Services Staff regarding assigned functions; participate in the formulation and development of policies, procedures and programs. Attend and conduct a variety of meetings such as SST and community resources. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor degree in behavioral analysis, psychology, or special education required. Master’s Degree preferred in psychology or related field. Professional experience in Special Education and knowledge of behavioral management programs. Board Certified Behavioral Analysis Certification and/or BICM (Behavior Intervention Case Manager) Certification (completed or in progress). KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: Child growth and development. Theories and techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis. Understanding of students with disabilities. Behavior management strategies and techniques relating to pupils who experience atypical control problems. Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to: Develop, write and implement effective behavioral plans including data collection, program development, monitoring and report writing. Assess student skill behavioral challenges and social skill areas. Understand and relate to children with special needs. Share and demonstrate knowledge of behavioral analysis, positive discipline techniques and effective practices. Plan and implement quality in-service programs for teachers and staff. Supervise the performance of assigned personnel. Prepare and maintain a variety of comprehensive reports, records and files. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Meet schedules and time lines. Plan and organize work. Interpret, apply and explain applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environment: Office and classroom environment, subject to interruptions; outdoor and home observations; subject to driving to off-site locations to conduct work. The noise level in the environment may range from quiet to loud depending upon activity. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and talk or listen. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may have to deal with students who display aggressive behavior to self and others. Required to be proficient in oral communication to deliver public presentations. LICENSE: Possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license.
