Job Title: Maintenance/HVACR Technician
Assists in maintaining HVAC, refrigeration equipment and all operating systems district wide.
Reports to: Director of Maintenance
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following but not limited to:
- Performs assigned tasks with limited supervision relating to air condition and refrigeration units (window, ductless, rooftop, refrigeration and chillers) from 1 ton – 300 ton units.
- Capable of trouble shooting unit controls for boilers, air conditioners, refrigeration equipment, air compressors, and motors
- Willing to be "ON CALL" after hours performed on a rotating basis.
- Prompt and thorough in completing assignments and attends to details accurately and efficiently.
- Observes precautions required for safety when working in potentially dangerous situations.
- Workable knowledge on cleaning cooling coils, equipment and boilers.
- Familiarity with VFD's (variable frequency drives) and BAS's (building automation systems).
- Must have EPA Technician Certification.
- Demonstrates ability to work with others in a positive, productive way.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent. Which may include electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None
QUALIFICATIONS Basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry skills. HVAC knowledge, familiar with test equipment and tools associated with HVAC equipment (gauges and electrical), working knowledge of air handling units and controls, some knowledge of most A/C systems from chill water, split system and window units, compressors, and boilers.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED, five years minimum experience in the HVAC field.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Texas Class B CDL, with passenger endorsement, driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment, complete a background and drug test and must meet insurance criteria.
Must have EPA Universal Technician Certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be physically fit, able to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds, strenuous standing, walking, climbing, and bending.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Tobacco free, working indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures including hot, cold temperature swings and inclement weather
