PRN Registered Nurse (Med/Surg & Emergency Room)
Position Summary
The PRN Registered Nurse works as needed to cover open shifts and provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in both the Medical/Surgical unit and the Emergency Room. This role coordinates total patient care, participates in patient and family education, and demonstrates leadership by collaborating effectively with ancillary nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members. All care is delivered in accordance with professional nursing standards and hospital policies.
Primary Duties
- Coordinate and deliver total nursing care for assigned patients
- Provide direct patient care in Med/Surg and Emergency Room settings
- Participate in patient and family education
- Collaborate with physicians, ancillary nursing staff, and other healthcare team members
- Demonstrate clinical leadership while maintaining professional nursing standards
- Cover open shifts as needed

- 12-hour shifts
- Variable scheduling based on staffing needs
Weekend/Holiday Requirement
- As needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
- TNCC, PALS, and ACLS certifications required
- Training will be provided if not already certified
