DEFINITION Under the supervision of an administrator, performs a variety of routine secretarial and clerical duties to support the efficient operation of a school office. Provides general assistance to staff, students, and the public. Performs related duties as assigned. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES -Performs general office tasks such as answering phones, greeting visitors, and responding to inquiries. -Prepares, types, and distributes routine correspondence, forms, and reports from rough draft or verbal instruction. -Maintains and updates files, records, and logs, including confidential information. -Assists with scheduling appointments, meetings, conferences, assemblies, trips and other school functions; may prepare simple agendas and take notes. -Collects and processes forms, applications, and other documents; verifies accuracy of information. -Maintains basic attendance records and assists with student registration as directed. -Operates standard office equipment including computers, copiers, and related software applications. -Provides general information and assistance to students, parents, and staff in a courteous manner. -Ordering and maintaining supplies and instructional materials and inventory. -Prepare or sort incoming and outgoing communications in a variety of formats. -May assist with basic account keeping or handling of school funds under supervision. -Administers basic first aid and emergency care as required. -Performs other related duties as assigned. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS -High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year of clerical or secretarial experience preferred. Additional related coursework or training in office practices is desirable. -Must be 18 years or older and hold a valid drivers license
