The Network Engineer will design, implement, and support a secure, scalable, multi-site enterprise network that enables global manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise and ownership across core network infrastructure technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, and WAN connectivity. The role is responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of the network environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business-critical systems, operational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

What you will be doing:
Serves as technical expert on complex problems requiring evaluation, engineering judgment, and technical guidance. Responsible for evaluating current systems, and leading large-scale infrastructure initiatives through architecture development, vendor evaluation, and production implementation.
- Routing & WAN: Expert-level BGP and OSPF implementation in multi-AS environments including route redistribution, policy-based routing, and traffic engineering. Design and operation of SD-WAN architectures using MPLS, dynamic path selection, and application-aware routing. Implementation and operation of IPsec VPN site-to-site and remote access infrastructure.
- Network Security: Palo Alto NGFW deployment and operation including SSL decryption, threat prevention, Panorama centralized management, and Layer 7 policy enforcement. Zero Trust segmentation strategies, security zone design, policy orchestration, and east-west traffic inspection. Cisco ISE for network access control, policy enforcement, and 802.1X authentication.
- LAN & Wireless: Cisco / Meraki enterprise switching including spanning-tree optimization, VLANs, QoS, and multicast. Meraki cloud-managed infrastructure with full-stack deployment. Enterprise wireless design, RF planning, roaming optimization, and high-density environments.
- Network Operations: Packet-level analysis and troubleshooting, flow analysis, network monitoring utilizing SNMP, NetFlow, syslog correlation, and performance baselines. Configuration management, version control, and patch management.
Service Operation
- Provides expert-level technical support for Global Network Systems used by Franklin Electric employees across all business functions.
- Designs, implements, and optimizes network infrastructure to resolve network issues and improve observability, fault tolerance, and operational efficiency.
- Analyzes Incident Tickets and performs root cause analysis to identify and prevent reoccurring problems.
- Responds to internal customers to resolve complex, network technology problems requiring deep troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Must maintain or exceed Service Level Agreements for Incident Resolution. This will be measured based on Incident Duration for the individual.
- Enters and manages change, request, and incident tickets in ServiceNow, IT Service Management Application.
- Occasionally provides off-hours support on evenings and weekends and participates in an on-call rotation.
- Provides recommendations for Network software and hardware standards and ensures standards are enforced through platform consolidation, standardization, and lifecycle management.
- Deploys new network hardware and software across global enterprise infrastructure.
- Responsible for maintaining Network software and hardware inventories company-wide including IT Asset Tagging.
- Uses ServiceNow to maintain and track IT assets and inventories.
- Leads cross-functional technical efforts during complex implementations, cutovers, and technology migrations.
- Participates as a technical resource and subject matter expert on projects led by others.
- Completes assigned project tasks on time and with high quality.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related degree (required).
- 6 to 10 years of related experience.
- Up to 20% travel should be expected for this position.
- CCNA / CCNP (preferred).
- Cisco ISE (network access control, policy enforcement, 802.1X authentication, profiling, posture assessment)
- SD-WAN architectures (over Internet / MPLS, dynamic path selection, application-aware routing)
- IPsec VPN (site-to-site tunnels, remote access)
- Palo Alto NGFW (SSL decryption, threat prevention, Panorama)
