Requirements:

  Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee product inspections across all manufacturing stages.
  • Lead internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the main contact for customer audits.
  • Lead root cause analysis of nonconformances using tools like 5 Whys, 8Ds, and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, sampling standards, and inspection protocols.
  • Manage supplier quality performance, including incoming inspections and corrective actions.
  • Communicate with vendors and customers to resolve quality concerns and complaints.
  • Implement and maintain vendor evaluations and supplier scorecards.
  • Evaluate the quality of materials or products and advise customers, production, & engineering on technical or procedural      issues
  • Travel to vendor sites to ensure Franklin quality is maintained.
  • Promote a quality-first culture across all departments.
  • Work alongside Engineering and Production when non-conformities are found to determine final decision to pass or not.
  • Take initiative to improve processes which affect quality.
  • Maintain relationships with all department managers.
  • Participate in training and meetings.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience in a quality or quality engineering role.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Proficient in measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Demonstrated success sustaining quality systems and controls.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and QMS or ERP systems.
  • Experience in wire forming, metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches) and small power tools.
  • Flexibility to manage various tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • The Quality Technician works in a production environment where safety glasses and safety-toe shoes, must be worn at all      times. The workspace includes exposure to temperature variations ranging from 45°F to 110°F, as well as fumes, solvents, and dust, with occasional handling of hazardous chemicals or oils.
  • The role requires frequent lifting of boxes weighing up to 55 pounds from the floor to table or pallet heights, along with      continuous standing and walking throughout an 8-hour shift. The position also involves pushing and pulling stacks of parts weighing up to 200 pounds over distances of up to 100 feet.
  • Employees must be able to regularly bend, squat, twist, and stoop during product handling tasks. Frequent wrist      manipulation is required for inserting and removing parts from machinery.
