SUMMARY
This position integrates responsibilities of both juvenile probation counseling and juvenile services coordination. The individual in this role will supervise juvenile offenders assigned to probation, oversee the Diversion Program for minor and first-time offenders, and coordinate transportation and services for juvenile detainees held at Martin Hall. This role will perform a full range of probation services including intake, assessment, supervision, and case management of juvenile offenders. The role also includes coordinating transportation logistics, liaising with detention centers, courts, and service providers, and assisting with truancy cases. The position requires considerable independence, contact with various agencies, and operation in both field and office settings.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Monitor the performance of clients, families, and service providers involved in juvenile cases.
• Conduct interviews with clients, families, and victims regarding expectations and consequences of non-compliance.
• Coordinate transportation logistics for juvenile detainees to and from detention facilities.
• Serve as liaison between Franklin County Juvenile Court, detention centers, and service providers.
• Refer clients and families to appropriate community resources and programs.
• Work with courts, agencies, clients, families, and service providers to resolve issues of conflict, concern, and non-compliance.
• Maintain regular contact with clients, families, schools, and community resources.
• Develop and monitor individualized treatment and service plans.
• Inform clients of appointments, deadlines, law changes, and other important information.
• Prepare accurate records and reports for court and administrative use.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide input on case planning.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding juvenile services.
• Provide support and guidance to juveniles and families navigating the justice system.
• Perform duties similar to a juvenile probation officer, including supervision and follow-up.
• Provide on-call services and attend community truancy boards as needed.
• Analyze complex issues and technical information, form logical conclusions based on such analysis, and make appropriate recommendations regarding juvenile court programs
• Communicate verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people
• Manage assigned responsibilities with competing demands, changing priorities, interpersonal conflicts, and stringent timelines
• Perform duties in a stressful environment, with exposure to sensitive issues involving juvenile criminal offenders
• Remain calm and manage emergencies or situations of negative or interpersonal conflict
• Monitor the activities of at-risk offenders in the community and in custody
• Enforce the rules of probation set by the Court
• Conduct Diversion appointments and monitor completion of contracts
• Assist with coordination of community service activities
• Represent Juvenile Court by maintaining a positive working relationship with the community, law enforcement, social service agencies, and families
• Conduct investigations gathering legal/social facts to facilitate recommendations/decisions to be made by judges, prosecuting attorneys, or other agencies
• Appear in court to testify and make recommendations that address public safety, accountability, and the need of each youth
• Other duties as assigned by the County AdministratorQUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or a closely related field. 
• Two (2) years of experience working with juveniles, court systems, or community organizations.
• Must be of good character as required by R.C.W. 13.04.040.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License and proof of liability insurance.
• Safe driving record.
• Must pass a drug screen and background check/investigation.
• Ability to work weekends and after hours for on-call and truancy board responsibilities.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various agencies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office equipment.
• Experience working with juvenile justice systems or probation services.
• Completion of Juvenile Services Academy through CJTC
Employee must register for Juvenile Services Academy Training within 90 days of hiring and complete 
training within 6 months if this has not been completed.

Knowledge of:
• Knowledge of legal terminology and juvenile court procedures.
• Interviewing and counseling techniques
• State laws as they affect juveniles, the juvenile court, and the diversion program 
• Community organizations and resources
• Abnormal juvenile behavior

Ability to:
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with juveniles and their parents, public and private officials and the general public
• Communicate program goals, objectives and regulations and make presentations to various community groups
• Carry out program objectives with limited supervision
• Prepare records and reports as required
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Preferred:
• Proficiency in Spanish
