What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Work Supervisor III position at Franklin County (NC)?
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise social workers in the child protective services units. This includes screening and assigning report of child abuse, neglect and dependency as well as the provision of involuntary in-home case management services to families with identified child safety risk. The Supervisor must manage and monitor staff and cases on a daily basis as it relates to a child's safety and risk of harm.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Supervisor is available after hours as needed and on a rotating basis to provide supervision and consultation to on call social worker for the agency. Employee will manage emergency shelters during times of disaster. Employee serves as member of agency leadership team.
Supervisor is directly responsible for supervising casework of a unit of child protective services social workers IA & T. Supervisor is responsible for insuring that child protective services are provided to children in Franklin County 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
The supervisor is responsible for developing and implementing a system that allows CPS intake reports to be received 24 hours per day seven days per week. Supervisor is responsible for a two-level CPS referral screening process. If a report is accepted or screened in the supervisor is responsible for case assignment to a social worker. Through regular case staffing's and record reviews supervisor, ensures that general statute, state policy and best practice guidelines are adhered to in each case while assessing a child's risk of abuse, neglect, or dependency. Supervisor is responsible for recognizing imminent risk of harm and immediate danger in cases and ensuring that the agency staff take the appropriate legal steps in protecting children from abuse, neglect and/or dependency. Supervisor is responsible for monitoring staff compliance with all state policy standards.
Supervisor ensures that staff provide in-home services to families in need. This involves ensuring unit staff have knowledge of community partners and resources. Supervisor must ensure that services are provided to families in a timely manner.
Supervisor is responsible for employee evaluations and recommendation for appropriate disciplinary action when deemed necessary. Supervisor promotes and interprets professional standards and ethics of conduct to staff and the community. Supervisor is responsible for ensuring unit staff receive all required child welfare training within required time frames.
Supervisor also identifies staff training needs and opportunities. Supervisor works with program administrator to encourage staff development and individual staff goals.
Supervisor creates and receives monthly, quarterly and yearly reports of child welfare specific data. Supervisor reviews such data and notes trends that may be specific to individual workers or indications of systematic change.
Supervisor is responsible for community education as it relates to child protective services. This includes speaking to various groups on an as needed basis. This involves interpreting agency actions and practices as they relate to NC General Statute, Administrative Code, and State policy.
Supervisor is responsible for other special programs or events and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and governmental and private organizations and community resources. Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies which govern social work programs. Ability to supervise, train, or orient lower-level social workers, students, interns, or other staff. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.
Salary : $68,737 - $72,173
