Job Description: The Franklin County Health Department is hiring a full-time Nutrition Educator to service Franklin, Grundy, and Marion County Health Departments. This Nutrition Educator will provide nutrition education and counseling for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program, assess nutrition status, and determine appropriate food packages and/or therapeutic products for high-risk infants, children, and women when needed. This Nutrition Educator will work in a collaborative manner with both the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor and the nursing teams in each location to best serve the clients in each community. This Nutrition Educator will provide education on the importance of proper nutrition, activity, immunization, and the negative impacts of substance misuse and abuse. Training in the WIC program will be provided to the applicant chosen for this position to ensure a successful transition into public health.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, or at least 3 semester hours in nutrition, completion of human anatomy or physiology, and 2 semester hours in education, psychology, or counseling. Computer skills are required.
Additional Information: Employees in this position can qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program run through the Federal Student Aid program.
