Key Duties Include
- Ensure a comprehensive program of recreational, intellectual, psycho-social and spiritual activities
- Lead activities as needed, from brain fitness games to tea parties
- Create printed monthly calendars and newsletters
- Actively facilitate and model person-centered care, including the incorporation of activities of daily living into structured programming; support residents in self-directed/solo activities and in assuming leadership roles
- Complete resident personal histories, and maintain these documents along with activity participation records
- Arrange for entertainers, speakers and other outside service providers
- Organize special events and outings, handling details such as decorating, purchasing advance tickets, recruiting volunteers, planning refreshments with food and beverage director, etc.
- An upbeat, engaging personality
- Formal training in therapeutic recreation or activities
- Minimum two years’ experience in health care or elder community
- Flexible schedule and willingness to work hard to achieve excellence
- Certification by an accrediting body such as the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation or the National Association of Activity Professionals is preferred but not required.
