Franklin Biolabs is in search of a Metrologist who will be responsible for performing and/or coordinating with external vendors the maintenance and calibration of equipment and instrumentation assets. The assets to be managed include general and advanced laboratory equipment and instrumentation used for pre-clinical, bioanalytical, vivarium, pilot scale manufacturing, and analytical services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Completes and documents all maintenance and calibration activities.
- Executes maintenance and calibration procedures.
- Performs and documents the review of vendor provided service reports.
- Interacts with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ensures adherence to all safety and compliance regulations while completing tasks.
Education and Experience
- Requires an associate’s degree in engineering, physical sciences, metrology or related technical field, with equivalent combination of education, training, and experience also considered.
- 2 years of experience in metrology, calibration, and/or equipment validation experience in a regulated laboratory or manufacturing industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and agencies (USDA, OLAW, FDA, AAALAC).
- Experience in maintaining assets via CMMS.
- Experience with the calibration and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.
- Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and/or other mechanical/electrical drawings.
- Intermediate math skills with the ability to calculate differences, percentages, slopes, and offsets.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to complete documentation following Good Documentation Practices.
- Self-directed with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with limited direction.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interact with team members, clients, vendors and other third parties.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across various disciplines to ensure alignment.
- Ability to use digital communication tools (video conferencing, chat platforms etc.) to effectively collaborate with team members in hybrid and remote settings.
Onsite
- This position requires full-time on-site presence at our Discovery Labs location in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
Immunizations and Screenings
- This position requires access to lab spaces.
- This position will require access to lab animal spaces.
- This position requires proof of negative tuberculosis test and active measles titer. Measles vaccination may be required if titer levels do not show sufficient protection.
Essential Status
- This position may be required to go on-site during company closures to sustain the life and care of animals/biological materials. Examples of company closures include snow days, holidays, etc.
- This position may be required to go on-site to perform their regular work functions related to continued research during periods of adjusted operations. This would not likely be required to go on-site during a company closure under normal business operations.
