Position Overview
Alongside the Facilities & Maintenance Team, the Housekeeping Staff member is responsible for supporting the cleanliness, safety, organization, and overall appearance of the school’s facilities, residential spaces, common areas, and campus buildings. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitizing, restocking, and custodial tasks to ensure that all school spaces remain clean, orderly, welcoming, and safe for students, staff, families, and visitors. The role also provides responsive support for campus operations, school events, seasonal needs, and other housekeeping-related needs as assigned.
Duties
- Complete routine daily housekeeping, cleaning, sanitizing, and custodial tasks as assigned.
- Clean and maintain academic buildings, residential spaces, bathrooms, offices, common areas, hallways, and other campus facilities.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, disinfect surfaces, empty trash and recycling, and restock supplies as needed.
- Support the cleanliness and readiness of student residential areas, including dormitory common spaces, bathrooms, laundry areas, and shared living spaces.
- Identify and report maintenance, safety, supply, or cleanliness concerns to a supervisor in a timely manner.
- Assist with event setup, breakdown, cleaning, and preparation for school programs, family events, admissions events, and other campus activities.
- Support seasonal and deep-cleaning projects, including summer turnover, school breaks, move-in preparation, and end-of-year cleaning.
- Use cleaning products, supplies, and equipment safely and appropriately.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, school policies, and established housekeeping protocols while performing assigned work.
- Coordinate with supervisors and colleagues as needed to support a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Ability to complete assigned housekeeping, cleaning, sanitizing, and custodial tasks in a timely and professional manner.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in housekeeping, custodial services, facilities support, hospitality, residential cleaning, or a related role.
- Experience working in a school, residential, hospitality, or community-based setting.
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment, supplies, and safe handling of cleaning products.
- General knowledge of basic cleaning practices, safe use of cleaning products, and proper care of shared spaces.
- Dependable, flexible, and willing to support a variety of campus needs, including routine cleaning, seasonal work, event support, and urgent cleaning needs.
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, organization, and the overall appearance of campus spaces.
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally around students, families, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, carrying, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and working for extended periods.
- Must be able to successfully complete all required background checks and employment screenings.
