An employee owned (ESOP) mechanical design/build firm is seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our Marysville team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with the Purchasing department to complete accurate and timely purchase orders. This position requires an organized individual who possesses excellent interpersonal skills along with accuracy and commitment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issue purchase orders to appropriate vendors in coordination with Sr. Purchasing Agent.
- Enter pricing for materials, equipment rentals, and tools.
- Follow-up with vendors on missing pricing and backorders.
- Coordinate with FMB operations and vendors to ensure material is on site when needed.
- Build, develop, and maintain relationships with vendors, rep firms, and manufacturers.
- Coordinate and facilitate returns of material and minimize or eliminate restock charges.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn the following skills:
o Review invoices to confirm pricing is per negotiated agreement.
o Determine the appropriate vendor based on material requested.
o Negotiate prices of material purchases.
o Evaluate new suppliers and existing supplier performance.
o Maintain pricing database.
Job Specifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and able to communicate with clients, vendors, engineers, detailers, and operations personnel.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- High school diploma or GED required and purchasing experience in a construction environment preferred.
- Background in HVAC or Plumbing preferred but not necessary.
Ability to:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Organize own work, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet critical deadlines.
