Frandsen Bank & Trust is seeking a Business Banker for our Apple Valley, MN location. This position is responsible for supporting a dynamic lending team for prospecting and developing new client relationships, managing existing client relationships, and use consultative interactions with clients and prospects to identify cross-selling opportunities with our wide range of financial services. The ideal candidate will also be willing to support community efforts.
Job Duties
- Actively develops new and existing business relationships through key contacts within the local community to market the bank's services with emphasis on commercial lending and other areas as designated.
- Analyzes individual loan and financial documents to determine customers' cash flow, ability to pay the loan, profit potential of the loan.
- Meet and interview applicants to determine creditworthiness, deny or grant each loan, secure required signatures, explain procedures or reasons for denial and present possible alternatives to those denied to maintain a favorable bank image.
- Monitor and collect past due loans in a manner which will minimize the bank's loan losses while providing flexibility to customers and documentation of exceptions.
- Monitor the existing loan portfolio through annual credit reviews, financial statements, receivable agings and on-site visits in order to provide recommendations for granting or renegotiating loans in a manner that minimizes loan losses.
- Helps ensure that all legal, compliance and CRA requirements are met by cooperating with Loan Review and compliance audits.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent years in banking industry experience.
- 4-10 years experience, preferably in a financial institution.
Required Skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers an the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportion, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to analyze financial statements and tax returns of businesses and individuals, and draw conclusions on the creditworthiness of the applicant.
- Experience with Microsoft's Windows Office Suite.
- Must have strong credit analysis and underwriting skills.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with SBA and FSA programs.
Salary range for this role is $70,000 to $105,000 annually, depending on experience. In addition, position includes the opportunity to earn variable compensation.
