Franciscan Healthcare is seeking a friendly and energetic Admissions Clerk to be the welcoming face of our organization! You’ll play a key part in the patient experience by coordinating admissions and registrations, managing important clerical tasks, and serving as a central communication hub through our hospital switchboard. Hours: Minimum 35 hours/week to include days, evenings, weekend and holiday rotation
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet visitors and patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
- Register patients, gather, verify, and update all necessary information within the computer system; have patients sign notices as applicable to their visit
- Operate the telephone switchboard to include receiving and transferring all in-coming calls, taking appropriate messages, and operating the intercom system
- Direct visitors to the patient rooms and give other appropriate information
- Receive and receipt patient account payments by cash, check, or credit card
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
- High School Graduate
- Minimum of two years business office experience or other related field experience, preferred
Other Competencies
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Skill in operating a computer and calculator; knowledge of computer hardware, word processing and spreadsheet programs, and data communications
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance company operating procedures
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, patients, vendors, and external agencies
- Skill in greeting all and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
- Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, decision-making
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to process patients and public inquiries and respond with poise and efficiency
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people
