Patient Companion

The Patient Companion I reviews and follows patient care instructions provided by charge nurse/nursing professional, clarifies any patient questions, monitors the patient, and notifies nursing staff of the need for patient assistance or when leaving patient's bedside, to maintain a safe environment for the patient. This position also reports pertinent patient information and changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Assist patients with meals, bathing and walking to chair or bathroom.
• Provide diversion for patient.
• Report to assigned nurse or Charge Nurse if any significant problems arise.
• Assure proper confidentiality of patient.
• Comply with all hospital safety measures.
• Attentive to patient to help avoid tubes or equipment from being removed.
• Primary focus is maintained for the patient. Personal activities may be performed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required High School Diploma/GED
