What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Advisor position at Franciscan Health?
The Behavioral Health Advisor at Franciscan holds the important responsibility of providing direct patient care to hospitalized psychiatric and chemically dependent patients. This position strives to maintain a stable, therapeutic environment, monitors patient’s moods and behaviors, and ensures an adherence to program structure. The Behavioral Health Advisor works closely under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, to ensure patient safety and progress.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
- Monitor and assess changes in the tone and quality of the therapeutic milieu, and address potential concerns that threaten patients' optimal safety, healing, and supportive environment.
- De-escalate situations involving agitated or aggressive patients to prevent behavioral-based safety hazards using established principles in de-escalation, including potential application of physical restraints.
- Successfully pass Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
- Observe, record, and monitor behaviors related to risk of patient suicide.
- Communicate and document patient care information in accordance to policy and procedure, and ensure report of critical changes in the clients condition.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Psychology , Social Work or related field
- 1 year Social Services Preferred
- Crisis Intervention (CI)
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
