What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Interventionist and Study Skills Teacher (7th Grade Seminar) position at Francis W. Parker Charter Essential Schools?
Parker is looking for a part-time (.4 FTE), experienced middle school teacher with a background in math and/or reading intervention to teach 7th Seminar. Seventh grade students take 7th Seminar two days a week in their first year at Parker (the school begins in 7th grade), and the class serves multiple purposes including:
- induction to the schools unique approach to learning and assessment
- an opportunity for students to learn the skills they need to be successful in their six years in our program including building executive function capacity, engaging with math and reading intervention (as needed), and pursuing independent learning opportunities to build a sense of agency and purpose as a student.
- Successful applicants will have an understanding of Coalition philosophy and familiarize themselves with Parker through the website before applying (www.theparkerschool.org).
- SEI endorsement and ML or Special Ed training are preferred.
- Parker openly seeks to build a diverse school community.
- Certification preferred but not required; MTELs must be passed prior to or within the first year of employment.
