Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Police Officer at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC. The Police Officer will be responsible for ensuring campus safety and security, enforcing laws and university policies, responding to incidents and emergencies, conducting criminal investigations, maintaining order during campus events, and gathering evidence. The Officer will also foster positive relationships with the campus community while promoting a safe and welcoming environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in law enforcement procedures, adherence to policies and practices, and understanding of applicable laws
- Experience with criminal investigations, evidence handling, and crime prevention methodologies
- Knowledge of police operations, including but not limited to responding to emergencies and maintaining public safety
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Must meet all law enforcement certification requirements as mandated by SLED and the SCCJA
- Completion of police training academy or equivalent certifications is required
- Prior experience as a law enforcement officer or in a similar role is preferred
