What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Assistant position at Framework Events?
Framework Events is hiring a part-time Fabrication Assistant to help build, maintain, prepare, and transport custom event pieces and rental inventory. This position is hands-on and involves working in our shop, as well as assisting with wedding and event setups at different locations across NC, VA, or SC.
Responsibilities:
- Paint and touch up wood pieces, backdrops, and event rentals
- Sand wood and other materials to prepare them for finishing
- Fill small holes, dents, and blemishes using wood filler or putty
- Safely use power tools and basic hand tools
- Assist with assembling and repairing event pieces
- Keep tools, materials, and work areas clean and organized
- Clean up after projects and properly store tools and supplies
- Move and transport finished wood pieces ranging from small décor to large installations
- Carefully load and unload event pieces and rental inventory
- Assist with wedding and event setups and breakdowns
- Follow instructions for placement and installation of event pieces
- Help protect finished pieces from damage during transportation and setup
- Perform other shop, warehouse, and event-related tasks as needed
Requirements:
- Comfortable working with basic hand tools and power tools
- Able to follow instructions and pay attention to detail
- Willing to learn basic fabrication and finishing techniques
- Able to lift at least 30 pounds independently and team-lift larger or heavier items
- Comfortable moving large and sometimes awkward wood pieces
- Able to stand, bend, lift, carry, and work on your feet for extended periods
- Dependable and able to maintain a clean and safe workspace
- Available for some evenings and weekends for wedding and event setups
- Reliable transportation to and from work
Previous fabrication, woodworking, painting, construction, warehouse, or event experience is helpful but not required. Please note: Due to the custom nature of events and scheduling, there may be days or weeks where no work is available.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25.0 per week
