Title: Memorial Designer and Production Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Sales
Location: Windsor Mill, MD
Hours: 9 AM- 5 PM
Position Overview:
As a Memorial Designer and Production Coordinator, you will create accurate, detailed drawings and plans for new and existing monument projects, translating client preferences into thoughtful and precise memorial designs. Working closely with the sales and production teams, you will ensure all design specifications are clearly communicated and projects move forward efficiently and on schedule.
This role includes meeting with families—either in person or through virtual meetings—to guide them through the memorial design process with care and professionalism. You will coordinate engraving schedules, monitor project timelines, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure deadlines are met. Additionally, you will assist with tracking inventory, managing incoming shipments, and supporting overall production organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create accurate and detailed drawings and plans for monument projects using CAD and other design software
- Develop precise 2D monument designs, accounting for dimensions, materials, and structural requirements
- Collaborate closely with sales and production teams to understand client specifications and design intent
- Provide support to the sales team by creating visual presentations and renderings for client proposals
- Prepare engraving stencils and all accompanying documentation for the production team
- Track materials throughout the production process and communicate status updates to the production team
- Order additional materials as needed, such as ceramic photos (cameos)
- Prepare clear instructions and coordinate with production to ensure designs and specifications are accurately executed in the finished memorial
- Revise and modify drawings as needed based on client feedback, design changes, or production requirements
- Maintain organized documentation of all drawings, revisions, and project specifications
- Stay updated on industry trends, software advancements, and best practices in monument design and drafting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in graphic design, interior design, drafting, or a related field.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Corel or similar programs OR quick learner who picks up new software quickly.
- Eye for design
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Creative problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
- Able to work quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience in monument design, drafting, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Success Criteria:
- Achieve a minimum of 95% accuracy in monument drawings and plans.
- Complete all drafting tasks within 12 business hours, with at least 90% of projects delivered on time.
- Receive positive feedback from clients on the quality and accuracy of drawings, with a target satisfaction rating of 4.5 out of 5.
- Collaborate effectively with sales and production teams to ensure seamless project coordination, resulting in a 20% reduction in revision requests.
