Job Description: Pellet Mill Operator
Employment Status: Full-time
Purpose and Objective of Position:
- Responsible for managing all pellet mill operations, adjustments, and quality of pellets during shift.
- Position will require manual work.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Perform various maintenance task associated with maintaining pellet mills equipment and repairs.
- Samples of all Pellet Mills (Bulk, Density), every two hours during each shift.
- Grease rolls behind mills once per shift.
- Oily pellets, (2 buckets), per mill at the end of each shift.
- Ensure necessary adjustments are made when needed on all Pellet Mills.
- Responsible for replacement of all rolls/dies when needed on all Pellet Mills.
General Responsibilities:
- Be a leader in safety and conduct.
- Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Must maintain good housekeeping.
- Responsible for reporting damages to equipment or property.
- Must be able to prioritize work. If a machine is down, it takes priority.
- Must be able to work shift schedule, (days off varies, 7am-7pm and/or 7pm-7am), overtime when needed.
- Must be able to bend, sit, reach, stand, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs. without any difficulties.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, (hot, cold, wet, and dry).
- Task must be performed with minimal supervision.
- Adhere to policies within the employee handbook.
Job Requirements:
- HS diploma or GED equivalent required
- Understands site formal lockout/verify hazardous energy program & trained to assist with mills as needed
- Must be able to meet shift production and quality metrics for plant
- Willing to help with other tasks at the plant as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Process Manager
- Must report any incidents or near miss immediately to your Shift Supervisor
- Must maintain good housekeeping inside the control room area
- Good verbal, written, and typing communication skills are vital for this position
- Ability to climb, sit, reach, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs. without any difficulties during plant scheduled shutdowns or as needed outside the control room office area
- Willing to work any schedule and or overtime as required
- Must follow all policies and procedures in the employee handbook
