DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Coordinate and manage the end-to-end import processes while adhering to international trade regulations, customs requirements, and company policies.
- Prepare and review all necessary import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
- Ensure accurate classification of goods and other applicable regulations to determine proper import duties and taxes.
- Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and freight carriers to schedule shipments, negotiate freight rates, and resolve any issues or delays.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery, identify potential bottlenecks, and provide proactive solutions to minimize disruptions.
- Maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, airlines, and other service providers to optimize freight forwarding operations.
- Stay updated on changes in international trade regulations, tariff schedules, and customs procedures to ensure compliance and provide guidance to clients.
- Handle inquiries and provide timely and accurate information to clients regarding shipment status, documentation requirements, and customs clearance processes.
- Assist in the preparation of quotations, cost estimates, and pricing strategies for import services.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and enhanced customer satisfaction in the import operations.
- Execute invoicing and closing of files as per established guidelines and KPI’s
- Provide daily activity reports to management.
- Other ad-hoc projects as requested by management

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in import operations within the freight forwarding industry.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, suppliers, and service providers.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software for tracking shipments, generating reports, and managing documentation – Cargowise preferred
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think critically and propose creative solutions to challenges.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and reviewing import documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

- Safely and successfully performs the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged period of time in office environment, desk setting
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
