Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership & Team Oversight
- Supervise daily operations of the 2nd shift Pre-Production team, ensuring production schedules and quality standards are met
- Lead and motivate a team of assemblers, welders, fabricators, and machine operators to meet shift goals in quality, productivity, and safety
- Conduct shift startup meetings, assign job duties, and monitor team performance throughout the shift
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews for second shift employees
- Provide coaching, feedback, and participate in disciplinary processes as necessary
- Review work orders, material availability, and production tracking systems to align team efforts with operational priorities
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, equipment issues, or staffing challenges in real time
- Monitor workflow to ensure proper part flow between stations and across departments
- Partner with the Plant Manager and other departmental leaders to support continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration
- Enforce safety policies, PPE compliance, and 5S/housekeeping standards in all work areas
- Ensure team adherence to standard operating procedures and quality control checkpoints
- Escalate quality issues and coordinate timely corrective actions for nonconforming products
- Lead by example in maintaining a safety-first culture and clean, organized work environment

Qualifications

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or college coursework preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or fabrication environment
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or lead position, preferably within automotive or vehicle production
- Familiarity with hand tools, mechanical assembly, welding, or fabrication processes
- Ability to read and interpret production documentation, basic blueprints, and work instructions
- Comfortable using time tracking, scheduling, and production reporting software
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive accountability and positive performance
- Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to effectively coach employees and manage conflict in a fast-moving environment
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and remain on feet (standing, walking, bending, kneeling) for extended periods
- Willingness to operate a forklift (certification preferred or must be obtained through company training)
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled, loud production environment
