Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

FR Conversions, a leading manufacturer of wheelchair-accessible vans and Type II ambulances, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure equipment uptime and plant reliability so production can deliver on time, every time. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining facilities, utilities, and production equipment in a safe and compliant manner. The Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Lead and will drive preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and communicate effectively to support operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Execute preventive maintenance tasks while monitoring reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR).

  • Equipment Coverage: Maintain and troubleshoot systems including powder-coat line and ovens, air compressors/dryers, HVAC/RTUs, sandblasters, vehicle lifts, forklifts, overhead doors, and building utilities (lighting, plumbing, alarms, ventilation).

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair electrical (24V–480V), mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic PLC/VFD systems to implement permanent fixes.

  • Work Order & Documentation: Perform work orders as assigned, ensuring accurate records aligned to FR’s quality system and compliance standards.

  • Vendor & Inventory Management: Work with external vendors, and monitor inventory and company tools.

  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA requirements, including lockout/tagout and machine guarding, while adhering to NFPA 70E/70B practices.

  • Communication: Communicate the initiation and completion of critical jobs to plant floor leadership.

  • Continuous Improvement: Perform small reliability projects to help ensure plant production efforts.

  • Reliability Support: Be on call after hours and weekends as needed to support urgent maintenance needs.


Salary & Compensation:

The Maintenance Technician position is a full-time, hourly role with compensation based on experience and qualifications. Compensation packages are subject to applicable labor laws, company policies, and payroll regulations.


Screenings Required:

  • Pre-employment drug test

  • Pre-employment physical

  • A valid and current driver’s license is required; candidates must provide proof of renewal upon expiration

  • A clean driving record demonstrated through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check will be conducted prior to employment and annually thereafter


Job Categorization:

This position is a full-time, hourly, FLSA non-exempt role (SOC Code – 49-9071).


Safety-Sensitive Position:

This role is designated safety-sensitive and requires a pre-employment drug test and physical. Ongoing random, at-cause, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing will also apply.

Qualifications:

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read schematics, safely use diagnostic tools, and apply problem-solving to reduce downtime.
  • Proven experience in preventive maintenance programs and driving reliability improvements.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, lockout/tagout, and machine safety standards.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Customer-focused approach with ability to escalate early when safety or cost impacts are identified.
  • Ability to task switch and maintain focus on prioritized jobs. 
  • Ability to lift 50lbs regularly, and be on your feet for 8 hours a day regularly. Also must be able to work from bending and crouching positions. 
  • Must have basic hand tools for use.
