About FPSA:


The Food Production Solutions Association (FPSA) is a Northern Virginia-based trade association that provides networking, marketing, training and educational opportunities to the food processing and packaging industry. Our members include food producers, original equipment manufacturers and service providers to the food and beverage industry.


About the Position:


FPSA recently changed its mission and membership focus to include food production companies, creating a new membership category. We will also be creating an individual membership category. Both open up new opportunities to build new member value, attract new members, retain existing members, and build a strong, process and data-driven membership function.


The FPSA is seeking an experienced Director, Membership, who will lead efforts to grow, retain, and engage members. This position will report to the CEO and will be responsible for developing an annual membership strategy that drives strategic growth. The ideal candidate must be an independent worker who can bring new ideas and solutions to the table, manage projects independently, and effectively communicate member value to our audience.


Essential Job Functions:


Membership Strategy

  • Lead the development, execution and evaluation of comprehensive strategies that drive membership acquisition, retention, and engagement.
  • Continuously monitor, reevaluate, and make recommendations to enhance the organizations membership value proposition. To include benchmarking against best practices and industry competitors.
  • In coordination with sales, conduct market research to identify new membership verticals, audience targeting, product positioning, and strategy refinement.
  • Present data-driven insights to optimize strategies, improve ROI, and identify cross-promotion opportunities.

Member Services & Support

  • Serve as the primary contact for all membership inquiries, renewals, and applications.
  • Oversee the management of all member data, ensure data integrity, and accuracy.
  • Expand and improve the FPSA usage of our Nimble / Salesforce AMS.
  • Own and execute the new member onboarding processes.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing members concerns, fostering engagement and maintaining communication to strengthen member loyalty and participation.
  • Continuously enhance FPSAs member onboarding process to include a call with each new member, a tutorial of the member portal, collection of individual names from each firm, and an overview of FPSA member benefits.
  • Recruit, schedule, and host FPSAs Meet the Member campaign.
  • Manage registration for FPSA Annual Meeting (Food Solutions Exchange & Conference) and other FPSA events.
  • Conduct and manage an annual member survey.

Member Engagement

  • Grow the number of member companies and individual contacts in the database annually.
  • Participate in Network and Committee calls to foster relationships and understand member needs.
  • Collaborate with communication and marketing team to develop and distribute targeted membership messaging and promotional materials.
  • Serve as the staff liaison for the Board membership committee when it meets.
  • Conduct market research to inform audience targeting, product positioning, and strategy refinement.

Budget & Reporting

  • Work with the CEO and CFO to create and manage the membership budget, including forecasting and performance tracking.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance using analytics and reporting tools.
  • Create and distribute monthly membership reports, member demographics, revenue reports, and other ad hoc reports as needed.

Other Duties

  • Act as the main point of contact for Nimble AMS.
  • Act as the main point of contact for Workforge training platform license tracking.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • At least 7 years experience in an association membership function.
  • Experience with Nimble/and or Salesforce.
  • Customer service focused with a positive attitude and high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers/colleagues via telephone or virtual meetings.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing, including content creation, social media strategy, email marketing, etc.
  • Ability to create, manage, and monitor marketing budgets effectively.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, resolve issues proactively, and take ownership of tools and processes with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • WordPress skills a plus.


We offer a full suite of benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, an in-building gym, and parking. This position is at our McLean, VA headquarters. Currently, we are in the office 4 days a week and remote 1 day per week.
