What are the responsibilities and job description for the Batch Operator 2nd & 3rd Shift position at FPM HEAT TREATING?
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Batch Operator to join our team in a dynamic heat-treat environment. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring equipment used in the production. We are seeking candidates for our 2nd and 3rd shift. These shifts pay a shift premium.
Responsibilities Include:
- Pull work from incoming or in-process storage areas.
- Prepares work for processing in the appropriate equipment conforming to shop order or departmental instructions.
- Reviews all shop order instructions, customer paperwork, and appropriate charts to ensure all products conform to customer specifications.
- Maintains all work areas to insure they are clean and organized. Records all required information, such as furnace temperatures and load and container locations.
- Verify and signoff/initial on shop orders that work has been processed accurately. Obtains supervisor approvals for all process deviations.
- Breakdown loads and move products using forklifts, charge carts, or hoists. Monitor all processes, gas flows, temperatures, time and quench settings.
- Ensures all equipment is functioning mechanically correct and record required information on charts.
- Must operate all equipment within safety standards and know where and when jobs will be completed and what additional operations are to be performed on furnace work.
- Assists with the training of new departmental employees to ensure equipment operation, procedures, and safety rules are followed and adhered to.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Must pass certification requirements to be a licensed fork-lift operator.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a heat treat facility a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate machinery, machining tools, and material handling equipment safely.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality control checks.
- Ability to follow detailed safety protocols diligently and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
