SUMMARY OF POSITION
 Provides leadership for the maintenance of all building facilities and production equipment by directing the activities and scheduling of maintenance department personnel. Assist in ensuring food-safe, high-quality products are produced that meet or exceed all regulatory and legal requirements. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.
 
 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Increase production line efficiencies and yields using the following steps: 

  • Develop a maintenance team to continuously improve the preventive maintenance program increasing equipment reliability.
  •  Continuously work on ways to monitor equipment performance, document repairs/ parts replacement for trend analysis, and ways to improve on equipment reliability.
  •  Coordinate and assist with operator equipment training, testing, and certifications. 
  • Ensure that communications between equipment operators and mechanics are maintained to focus on production loss and equipment consistency.
  •  Ensure a proper inventory of facilities spare parts are maintained for ready use by:
  • Eliminating duplicate and obsolete parts from stock.
  • Monitoring parts usage trends, reduce or increase present inventory to ensure stock availability.
  • Upon new equipment installations, review repair manuals to ensure repair parts are available.
  • Plan and track all facility projects to coordinate contract labor and materials with company labor and materials, keeping cost and production lost to minimum.  
  • Continuously seek ways to prevent down time caused by accidents reducing insurance cost by training all maintenance personnel in proper safe work procedures and habits.
  • When planning new projects/changes ensure safety and ergonomics are place on top as major factor.
  • Make daily inspections of different areas to assess safe work conditions, proper work habits, and required protective equipment is worn/used by all personnel.
  • Be knowledgeable of both OSHA and EPA regulations as they apply to plant operations.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with the city and state officials to keep abreast and in compliance with all permits regulations requirements.
  •  Management responsibilities for the facility buildings, production equipment and associated support equipment. Manage maintenance department personnel time and work schedules. 
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of utility systems including water, sewage, electricity, and gas to ensure uninterrupted supply and compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and implement budgets for utility operations, including forecasting future needs and controlling costs to ensure financial efficiency.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with utility service providers, vendors, and contractors to secure favorable terms and ensure quality service.
  • Implement safety protocols and emergency response plans for utility systems to protect public health and safety.
  • Coordinate with government agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with environmental standards and obtain necessary permits for utility operations.
  • Lead and manage utility staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation to ensure a skilled and effective workforce.
  • Plan and oversee infrastructure projects, such as the installation of new utility lines or the upgrade of existing systems, to improve service delivery and efficiency.

 Education
 High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Experience
 6 years experience as maintenance mechanic within meat processing facility
 5 years experience in a supervisory or management role
