Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager – Manufacturing
Position Summary
I am seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead environmental compliance and workplace safety programs at a manufacturing facility. This role is heavily focused on environmental compliance and requires a strong working knowledge of hazardous waste regulations, air permitting, and environmental reporting. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations while fostering a safe and compliant workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance
- Lead and maintain the site's environmental compliance programs in accordance with EPA, state, and local regulations.
- Manage all aspects of the facility's RCRA Large Quantity Generator (LQG) hazardous waste program, including waste characterization, storage, labeling, inspections, manifesting, training, and record keeping.
- Oversee air compliance activities, including management of the facility's Title V Air Permit.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports and permit documentation accurately and on time.
- Coordinate environmental inspections and audits and serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental permits, monitoring requirements, and record retention.
- Manage hazardous waste vendors and environmental service providers.
- Support industrial wastewater pretreatment compliance, including sampling, reporting, and permit requirements, as applicable.
Health & Safety
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and workplace inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
- Coordinate employee safety training, emergency response planning, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Track and report EHS metrics, trends, and performance indicators.
Leadership
- Promote a proactive safety and environmental culture throughout the facility.
- Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams to ensure EHS compliance is integrated into daily operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental performance and workplace safety.
- Maintain current knowledge of changing environmental and safety regulations and communicate impacts to site leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience managing Hazardous Waste (RCRA Large Quantity Generator) programs.
- Experience managing Title V Air Permits/
- Working knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Experience conducting environmental and safety audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment programs.
- Professional certifications such as CHMM, CSP, CIH, or equivalent.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and managing environmental permitting processes.
