What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional Engineer/Project Manager position at FP&C Consultants KC, LLC?
We are a Fire Protection Engineering and Life Safety Consulting firm currently seeking a Project Manager who will be responsible for providing Building, Fire, and Life Safety code consulting, conducting fire and life safety surveys and inspections, and completing plan review of specifications and drawings. You will be expected to provide expert advice and guidance to contractors, building owners, engineers, and architects to ensure that the most up to date fire prevention concepts and practices are incorporated into the design and construction of facilities.
In addition to project-focused technical activities, the Project Manager's responsibilities include new business development, proposal creation, project financial management, and revenue projections. Some travel is required (10-25%).
What do I need to be a Project Manager?
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or other construction-related field. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, preferred but not required.
- 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering and/or consulting, building code plan review, and inspections.
- Knowledge of ICC and NFPA code & standards and the ability to interpret them.
- Ability to gain knowledge of fire protection engineering and design principles.
- Successful project management experience within a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to mentor others, including clients and employees, and provide technical leadership.
- Strong negotiator.
- Excellent communicator, including graphic and print media, and verbal presentation skills.
- P.E. license (or the ability to obtain it), preferred but not required.
- Experience with Fire modeling (FDS) and timed egress analysis is a plus.
