Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

 

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

to lead the finance and accounting function for FOXXSTEM, a growing and award-winning engineering consulting firm. This role is responsible for developing and managing the firm's finances and accounting while ensuring accurate financial reporting, scalable workflows, regulatory compliance, and effective financial planning processes.

 

The successful candidate will be a working finance and accounting leader with a strong accounting foundation who can serve as a key business partner to the firm's leadership, driving financial visibility, process improvements, executing strategic initiatives, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making across the organization. This position requires a balance of leadership and day-to-day operational execution.

 

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping: Use Deltek Ajera accounting system to track financials, financial reporting, and monthly closeout.
  • Invoicing: Prepare monthly client invoices in coordination with operational support and project managers, tracking and reporting accounts receivable.
  • Project Consulting Metrics: Enhance standardized operational metrics including employee utilization rates, multiplier targets, billable vs. non-billable hours, and project margins.
  • Budgeting & Backlog Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and build bottom-up monthly revenue projections, along with project managers, based on project backlog, pipeline, multi-year forecasting, capital allocation and staffing capacity.
  • Financial Management: Manage cash flow forecasting and provide visibility into financial performance and business trends working with executives. Manage accounts payable.
  • Business Partnering: Partner directly with executives and project managers to deliver actionable insights on work-in-progress (WIP), project-level profitability, and contract pricing decisions.
  • Systems Optimization: Maintain data integrity across time-tracking, billing, and financial systems. Enhance FP&A dashboards leveraging technology using tools.
  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements/reports. Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and financial reporting practices in accordance with GAAP. Oversee tax compliance activities and support the preparation of annual tax returns working with an independent tax preparer. Oversee preparation and submission of audit materials and responses, including annual FAR audit. Calculate and project FAR/AASHTO indirect cost rates.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA preferred
  • 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Prior experience as a Manager of Finance, Controller or similar leadership role.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
  • Experience leading accounting and improving financial processes
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, tax compliance, cash management, and financial analysis
  • Architecture, Engineering & Construction industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of WIP accounting, project accounting, revenue recognition, and GAAP
  • Experience with Deltek accounting systems
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

 

Compensation:

Salary will be determined based on candidate's experience level, education, and overall capability.

 

Location:

Hybrid work environment. Company-wide policy. Candidate is expected in the office 3 days a week.
