Digital Marketing Intern — SEO, Content & AI Search

Foxiecakes creates destination-inspired buttercream flower decorating kits with flavors and ingredients you can feel good about. We're on a mission to sprinkle joy and empower casual creatives of all levels — especially newbies — to discover the fun and fulfillment of floral cake decorating. Our kits, manufactured in Brooklyn, feature plant-based colors, unique flavors, and are vegan/dairy-free adaptable. We're in an early growth stage — building our marketing engine, scaling organic search, and growing our community.

Role Overview

We're looking for a curious, detail-oriented Digital Marketing Intern to help us grow our organic presence across search, AI platforms, Pinterest, and online communities. This role blends SEO content writing, AI search optimization, Pinterest strategy, and community engagement — with clear templates and direction provided. If you enjoy both creative and analytical work and want real portfolio-building experience at a consumer brand, this is a great fit.

Key Responsibilities

Content & Blog Writing

• Write and publish 2 SEO-optimized blog posts per week using an answer-first template
• Optimize posts with target keywords, internal links, and proper formatting (H2s, FAQs)
• Review and refine AI-assisted drafts for brand voice and quality
• Upload content to our CMS (Shopify) and refresh evergreen posts periodically

SEO & Technical

• Check Google Search Console weekly for indexing errors
• Find low-CTR pages and rewrite title tags and meta descriptions
• Run monthly Screaming Frog crawls to find and fix broken links
• Maintain strong internal linking between posts, pillar pages, and product pages

AI Search & GEO

• Run weekly test queries in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews; log results
• Structure blog content to be cited by AI answer engines (clear formatting, direct answers, FAQs)

Pinterest SEO

• Create keyword-optimized pins for every new blog post
• Optimize board titles, descriptions, and profile bio for Pinterest search
• Track monthly Pinterest analytics (impressions, saves, link clicks)

Community & Reporting

• Reply to relevant questions on Reddit (r/baking, r/cakedecorating, r/DIYgifts) and link back to blog content
• Maintain a weekly AI search log and pull monthly GSC and Pinterest performance reports

What You'll Learn & Gain

• SEO fundamentals: keyword research, on-page optimization, internal linking, and technical audits
• AI search optimization (GEO/AEO) — one of the most in-demand emerging skills in digital marketing
• Pinterest SEO strategy, content writing for search intent, and community engagement
• Hands-on experience with Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, ChatGPT, and Perplexity
• Real portfolio work at a growing consumer brand

Qualifications

• Current student seeking internship credit (unpaid)
• Available 8–16 hours/week; flexible schedule
• Strong writing and research skills with an eye for brand voice and detail
• Basic SEO familiarity or a genuine eagerness to learn
• Comfortable using AI tools like ChatGPT; organized and self-directed
• Comfortable with Google Docs/Sheets and Canva (or willing to learn)

Bonus Points

• Experience with Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, or Pinterest Analytics
• Familiarity with GEO/AEO and how AI platforms surface content
• Active Reddit or Pinterest user
• Interest in baking, cooking, crafting, or the mental health benefits of creativity

Position Details

• Duration: 4 months (May-August)
• Location: Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid)
• Compensation: Unpaid, for academic credit
