Foxdale Village, a life plan community guided by Quaker values, is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in State College, PA. Foxdale was founded in 1985 by members of the State College Friends Meeting and is founded on the values of treating all with dignity and respect. Foxdale is regarded as a premier healthcare facility both locally and nationally and has been voted "Best Retirement Community in State College, PA" for over a decade. Foxdale Village includes 57 apartments and 148 cottages and offers a range of health services with 46 beds in skilled nursing for short and long-term care, two memory care neighborhoods, and 55 beds in personal care, all with private accommodations. We are seeking a full-time Groundskeeper to work as part of our dedicated maintenance team.
We are hiring for Full-Time position and expected work 40 hours per week (7am-3:30pm) Monday-Friday, with a rotating weekend/holiday schedule.
Groundskeeper Job Summary:
Responsible for various tasks in maintaining Foxdale’s campus grounds and landscaping.
Essential Job Functions:
- Sweep carports, driveways, and walkways as designated by the Maintenance Manager.
- Weed bedding areas.
- Trim shrubs and trees.
- Mow lawns.
- Plant flowers.
- Transplant and divide perennials.
- Fertilize lawn and shrubs.
- Maintain water level in the fountain.
- Keep equipment in good operating condition (change oil, sharpen mower blades, and repair small engines)
- Serve in an on-call status during inclement weather and assist with snow removal as needed.
- Complete work orders in a timely manner.
- Complete maintenance tasks as needed.

Requirements
Groundskeeper Minimum Qualifications Include:
- Education: A high school diploma or it's equivalent.
- Training: The ability to earn a state license to apply pesticides is preferred.
- Skills: The ability to use the Internet to research and order supplies is preferred. The ability to communicate effectively with staff and residents.
- Experience: Related maintenance and landscaping experience such as knowledge of various types of native foliage, flowers, trees, shrubs, and other greenery, and how to maintain them is preferred. Turf management, horticulture, and landscape design experience are preferred. Ability to work outdoors and operate lawn mowing equipment and use other grounds maintenance equipment.
