Job Description – IT Application Engineer (Logistics)
FSLA Status: Exempt
Location: Lordstown, OH
Reports To: IT Application Manager
Direct Reports: None
Primary Function: The IT Application Engineer (Logistics) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of designated computer applications. This includes working with end users to resolve issues, as well as developing and implementing new applications where applicable. Responsibilities also include monitoring 3rd party providers/vendors (i.e., SLA & other monitoring tools). In conjunction with the rest of the Technology team, this position will contribute to the Company’s bottom line by improving efficiencies through help desk tickets and supporting development as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain and support computer applications. Work with end users to resolve issues related to Warehouse Control, Inventory Management, Operations, and Transportation of Materials.
- Troubleshoot technologies like RFID, GPS, and Networking.
- Understanding of SAP ERP modules (i.e., MM, QM, WM/EWM).
- Document application processes and procedures. Stay up to date on new technologies and applications.
- Quick understanding and learning of complex Logistics/Shipping systems.
- Develop, analyze, prioritize, and organize requirement specifications, data mapping, diagrams, and flowcharts as needed.
- Ensure testing activities within given systems are being executed according to test plan.
- Provide mentoring / training to team members.
- Respond to user requests for assistance with system functionality.
- Submit issues to appropriate vendors that are outside the scope of local IT.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Industry standard technical certifications or equivalent field experience may substitute.
Required Experience
- 5 years proven application support experience.
- Manufacturing experience in Warehouse environments is required.
- Supply Chain experience in Manufacturing environments is required.
- Knowledge of at least one of the following systems, commercial or in-house: WMS (Warehouse Management System), YMS (Yard Management System), TMS (Transport Management System).
- Experience installing, configuring, documenting, testing, training, and implementing new applications.
