DESCRIPTION: The Foxborough Public Schools is seeking a dynamic Career Counselor who will provide direct support and instruction to students specific to post-secondary college and career planning, collaborate with guidance counselors, classroom teachers and administrators, and facilitate programs, and coordinate our internship program for all future Pathway’s programs.
These programs include but are not limited to the annual Credit for Life Fair, Senior Project (Internship Program), and Career Day. The Career Counselor will serve as a liaison between Foxborough High School and local community colleges, employment organizations, the Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce, the Foxborough Rotary Club and local businesses.
REPORTS TO: Director of Guidance
SALARY:As per individual contract. Work year is 185 days. Salary to be established by the Superintendent of Schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Recruit and engage employers to identify internship placement; facilitate placement to job internship assignments; and provide opportunities for employers to support career exploration efforts to students for all students at FHS; including those in our Pathways programs
•Facilitate engagement of school administration, guidance personnel, and teachers.
•Meet with students regularly to support them in obtaining employment.
•Organize and manage the Credit for Life Fair.
•Organize and monitor the Senior Project (Internship) Program.
•Organize Career Day for Junior and Senior classes.
•Serve as liaison to business community after placement.
•Adhere to DESE mandates for program and placement protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Minimum Bachelor’s degree
•Previous professional experience collaborating with professional organizations, recruitment and hiring.
•Works independently, self-starter, flexible.
•Strong knowledge base of current research about career and school counseling and the ability to apply this knowledge in daily practice.
•Effective computer skills.
•Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
•Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
•Experience collaborating with post-secondary institutions, training programs, and local businesses.
