Your Role as the Assistant Dining Manager
Assisted Living
As the Assistant Dining Manager, you’ll have a direct impact on our residents’ quality of life and overall satisfaction. Under the direction of the Dining Manager, you’ll help ensure our dining team delivers an exceptional, welcoming experience at every meal.
This role blends kitchen leadership, food preparation, sanitation, and customer service. You’ll assume responsibility for daily kitchen operations in the Dining Manager’s absence and collaborate on special events and activities that bring joy and connection to our residents.
Summary
The Assistant Dining Manager supports dining services operations by assisting with food preparation, kitchen oversight, sanitation, and resident engagement. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting a positive dining culture in our Assisted Living community.
This role may also be known as:
Assistant Dietary Manager, Assistant Food Service Manager, Assistant Kitchen Manager, Culinary Supervisor, Dietary Supervisor, or Lead Cook.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Dining Manager in daily dining services operations
- Assist with meal preparation, cooking, and plating according to menus and standards
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety compliance
- Provide friendly, customer-focused service to residents and guests
- Step into leadership responsibilities when the Dining Manager is unavailable
- Help plan and facilitate dining-related events and resident activities
- Collaborate with the Activities Department on special meals and celebrations
- Assist with inventory awareness, organization, and proper food storage

What You Bring
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience in senior living preferred
- Adequate experience in commercial food preparation to manage volume, quality, and service expectations
- ServSafe Certification (or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain shortly after hire
- Ability to meet all county and state food service regulations
Skills & Abilities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Customer-service mindset with attention to resident satisfaction
- Flexibility to assume responsibility during leadership absences
