The Team You’ll Work With …
As the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator, you will work directly with our talented EHS team to author and optimize our safety program for the factory. The EHS Coordinator will support our teammates in the areas of compliance, training, documentation, auditing, root cause analysis, industrial hygiene, PPE designation, and incident investigations. In this role, you will take ownership of key safety activities that positively impact the employee culture; elevating data reporting, being a big player in helping to improve existing programs, and designing new initiatives.
The EHS Coordinator is responsible for continuous improvement of an effective Environmental, Health and Safety program by providing day-to-day support in the oversight of workplace safety training, machine safeguarding, personal protective equipment, consulting on risk assessment and safety matters, and responsible for safety system analysis. Your goal as Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator will be to ensure compliance of safety standards and environmental regulations to maintain a safe work environment for all employees within the organization. This role reports to the Safety Manager and is located on-site in Richmond, CA. The pay range for this role is $55,000-$65,000 per year.

What You’ll Achieve …
- Carry out the day-to-day Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives through technical support that contribute to the application of an effective EH&S Program.
- Manage all required reporting to multiple federal, state, and local agencies (Cal OSHA, hazardous waste, etc.)
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety performance audits and inspections
- Develop and track action items as a result of safety performance audits
- Work with management to resolve action items from safety performance audits
- Responsible for the proper management of the hazardous waste process
- Conduct safety new hire and transferred employee orientations
- Develop, manage, and update the safety new hire orientation
- Facilitate and manage the hazardous material waste disposal program
- Assist management in the investigation of accidents as necessary, review accident reports, and track action items
- Assists with updating department safety rules; maintains current documentation
- Visit jobsites and audit EHS program implementation with our installation teams
- Facilitate the maintenance of appropriate safety records
- Manage the forklift certification program; train and certify employees as necessary
- Facilitate emergency management programs and conduct annual employee evacuation drills.
- Develop and implement training programs as necessary at all levels within the organization, from hourly employees to executive staff.
- Educate staff via weekly safety trainings in English and possibly Spanish
- Assists with the management of various safety programs, such as the Hearing Protection Program, Respiratory Program, Silica program, etc.
- Chair the Safety Committee each month and coordinate with members to complete action items.
- Manage and inventory all safety protective equipment
- Serve as liaison for workers’ compensation reporting, case management, and recordkeeping
- Weekly coaching on Lockout/Tagout and procedural audits
- Recognize safety hazards or unsafe work practices and develop Corrective Action Plans
- Assist in administering and maintaining other compliance programs such as LOTO, Hazard Communication, EAP, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Respiratory Protection, etc.
- Minimum of 1 year of dedicated EHS experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or field installation setting.
- Understanding of industrial hygiene principles, including the ability to identify health hazards (biological, chemical, physical, and ergonomic), interpret sampling results, and recommend appropriate controls.
- View EHS as a service function that enables production and possesses the interpersonal skills to lead with empathy and build cooperative relationships on the floor and in the field.
- Possesses the credibility and experience to negotiate conflicting priorities, knowing when to stand firm on compliance and when to collaborate for the best outcome.
- Foundation in relevant EHS regulations (e.g., Cal/OSHA, NFPA, EPA) and proven success in implementing and managing core EHS programs.
- Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone), EHS management systems, and data analysis for trending incidents.
- Exceptional communication, influencing, active listening, and problem-solving abilities.
