What are the responsibilities and job description for the COMMERCIAL LOAN OFFICER I position at Fox Communities Credit Union?
We currently have a career opportunity for a full-time Commercial Loan Officer I based out of our Calumet branch in Appleton!
The Commercial Loan Officer originates, manages, and supervises a portfolio of small business loans with the overall objective of maintaining strong asset quality through solid underwriting and monitoring, and growth by developing new and existing business relationships. This role seeks a full member relationship, from loans to deposits to Treasury Management products, with the support of the Treasury Management team. This role also represents the credit union in the local community through participation in community affairs and with the marketing of our products and services.
The primary responsibilities of the Commercial Loan Officer role include but are not limited to:
- Promoting and upholding the Fox Purpose, Mission, Vision, and Values
- Supporting the credit union’s strong relationship culture through ongoing customer contact, quality member service, and superior product knowledge
- Assisting members with any questions and concerns related to business services
- Developing new lending and deposit business for the credit union by fielding calls/emails and calling on members to expand existing business and prospecting
- Uncovering a member opportunity, and working with appropriate team members to find a solution
- Monitoring an existing commercial loan portfolio to help maintain a high asset quality
- Maintaining up to date member files as required by loan policy and underwriting standards
- Maximizing profitability through appropriate pricing of new loan originations and renewals, fee income, and selling of all products and services
- Negotiating terms, structuring loan financing based on risk considerations, and presenting credits for approval

Obtaining loan approvals:
- Reviewing member financial condition and assessing the member’s ability to repay the loan
- Working with underwriting to create a solid credit presentation for the loan committee
- Presenting credit presentations to the loan committee for approval

Completing loan closing activities:
- Coordinating and driving all closing activities through the loan processing department
- Working with loan processing to make sure all loan documents are completed correctly
- Processing business credit card applications that come in through the website and via paper application
Candidates for the Commercial Loan Officer position should possess:
- Ability to speak and translate fluent English and Spanish is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Economics preferred
- Two to four years of commercial loan underwriting experience, or four to five years of commercial loan coordinator experience
- Clear understanding of business accounts and treasury management products offered
- Proven track record in working with all levels of senior management
- Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and credit union team members
- Strong initiative, self-direction, and a focus on financial relationship building
