What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health & Safety Manager position at Fox Cities Performing Arts Center?
As a team member of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, you will help build a positive working environment where employees bring the Center’s mission of serving as a gathering place for all in our community to life.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager of Facility Operations, the Health and Safety Manager will provide a controlled and safe environment for the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center during regular business hours as well as before, during, and after all ticketed and non-ticked events. This includes the health and safety of all Center staff, volunteers, patrons, artists, guests, and the property. The Health and Safety Manager oversees the in-house security team and all contracted external security personnel. This position will also lead the enforcement of all health and safety protocols within the work environment. The Health and Safety Manager will analyze the various workplaces and design initiatives to control, eliminate, and prevent disease caused by chemical, physical, radiological, or biological agents. In addition, they may inspect workplaces to ensure they are in compliance with state and federal laws or employer policies and conduct analyses on the effectiveness of safety and health programs.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities
- Monitors and authorizes entrance and exit of employees, volunteers, visitors, and other people to ensure compliance with protocols, rules and regulations and to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
- Operates the electronic door control system to allow access into areas of the building as directed by management collaborating with IT as needed for programming, maintenance and repairs.
- Collaboratively manage the intrusion alarm and CCTV systems with IT including storage and retrieval of recordings related to reported or suspected incidents.
- Coordinate the monitoring of and answers alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Directs and provides guidance to health and safety staff during an event including circulating among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Supervises health and safety staff during guests’ disturbances and assists house management with patron or staff illness/injury.
- Serves as main contact with the City of Appleton for health and safety related issues and contact with fire or police departments during an emergency.
- Maintains operational knowledge of fire alarm, video, P.A. systems, and evacuation procedures.
- Provide additional health and safety officers as deemed necessary by the production company.
- Notifies police and towing company for ticketing or removal of unauthorized vehicles.
- Enters relevant activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences into Center’s event management software.
- Manage the lock and key system inventory, issuance, and return of keys to staff and vendors.
- Manage and coordinate all routine preventive maintenance, repair, and testing of the Fire Sprinkler System including repairs and maintaining records of all inspections and service calls.
- Manage the Pest Control Services agreement to ensure and minimize interior and exterior pest activity.
Secondary Functions
- Provides functional leadership to all in-house and contracted security teams. This includes the hiring and training of all in-house health and safety personnel, facilitates pre-show meetings with in-house, contracted and touring health and safety teams to ensure consistency, and reviews performance of both in-house and contracted security teams to make necessary adjustments.
- Serves as in house ambassador for Center’s health and safety protocols providing training and reinforcement as necessary.
- Creates monthly scheduling of in-house health and safety team.
- Creates monthly scheduling of contracted external security.
- Creates health and safety schedule and information into event management software.
- Creates health and safety invoices for the settlement process/invoicing in a timely manner.
- Reviews and submits all contracted security invoices for payment.
- Schedules training as needed for security team and includes Center staff as appropriate.
- Submit, review, respond and attend to work orders related to the safety and security of the facility working collaboratively with Facility Maintenance and Facility Services.
- Attends weekly event operations meetings.
- Manages the Center’s parking lots, control the parking assignments and issuance of passes, communicate with City of Appleton on lot, road, and metered stall closure needs, projected attendance and oversees event parking procedures.
- Primarily work weekdays and as needed for nights/weekends/holidays as event schedule requires.
- Manage the Health and Safety operational budget including labor, supplies, and equipment.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
