What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Nurse position at Fox C-6 School District?
STATUS: Substitute, as needed
REPORTS TO: Principal, Director of Nursing
POSITION SUMMARY: To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the District Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:
• RN in the State of Missouri
• Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
• Currently registered in the State of Missouri.
• CPR/AED certified
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts school health services including assisting the school doctor and in physical examinations, and tests for vision, hearing and scoliosis.
- Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students and reports to the school principal those students in compliance with health requirements.
- Administers medication and first aid as necessary per established procedures.
- Makes notification to parents of students who may be in need of additional medical and dental services.
- Participates with school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program.
- Prepares and submits in a timely manner necessary reports.
- Participates in in-service training programs.
- Requisitions supplies as needed through the Director of Nursing.
- Maintains a record of students and staff who have been seen and/or treated by school nurse.
- Advises school personnel in regard to health matters related to students in the school.
- Arranges for substitutes when nursing staff is absent.
- Schedules school doctor's visits to schools for physicals (student and employee).
- Organizes CPR classes and the distribution of flu vaccines as needed.
- Prepares communications to be sent home to parents as needed.
