Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for overnight shifts, providing exceptional patient care across diverse clinical settings. Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine immediate needs and ongoing care plans.
- Administer medications via various routes such as IV infusion, injections, and oral medications, ensuring precise documentation in electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Manage airway maintenance with ventilator support and perform advanced procedures like suturing, catheterization, and sterile dressing changes following aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patients with complex conditions including acute pain management, infectious disease care, trauma medicine, and post-operative recovery in hospital or ICU settings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of services such as hospice & palliative medicine or long-term care.
- Document all patient interactions accurately according to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards like ICD-10/ICD-9 coding.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies such as trauma incidents or cardiac events by utilizing skills in airway management, CPR (Basic Life Support), and rapid triage protocols.
Experience
- Proven experience working in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers with familiarity in trauma medicine and acute care protocols.
- Extensive background in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or medical-surgical units with exposure to EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Demonstrated competence in specialized procedures including catheterization (cardiac or urinary), phlebotomy, IV insertion/infusion, ostomy care, and laboratory specimen collection/processing.
- Prior experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Knowledge of infectious disease control practices and experience managing patients requiring complex interventions such as dialysis or gastrostomy tube feeding.
- Familiarity with Workers' Compensation Law related to occupational health cases; experience in hospice & palliative medicine is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and diagnostic evaluation techniques essential for comprehensive patient assessment during overnight shifts.
