Part-Time Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician

FDAE is seeking a part-time CMT Technician. We are willing to train the right candidate; prior construction field, inspection, or materials testing experience is preferred. ACI certification is a plus.
Position Summary
Work will primarily include field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and related construction materials at project sites throughout Louisiana and surrounding areas.
Typical Duties
- Perform field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, and related materials.
- Document test data, prepare daily field reports, and communicate results to project staff.
- Maintain testing equipment and follow applicable safety procedures.
- Assist engineers and project managers with construction observation activities.
Experience: Construction field work, inspection, or materials testing; experience with soils, concrete, asphalt, or earthwork preferred.
Certifications: ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I or higher is a plus. NICET, Radiation Safety/Nuclear Density Gauge, or similar credentials are desirable.
Training: FDAE will train a reliable candidate with good attention to detail, communication skills, and willingness to learn.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; authorization to work in the United States.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel for out-of-town assignments.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.
- Positive attitude, attention to detail, strong reporting skills, and ability to work well with others.
Compensation and Other Information
Compensation will be commensurate with experience, certifications, and qualifications. Local candidates preferred; no relocation assistance is available.
