Full-time position for an Environmental Scientist or Environmental Engineer to work in a small engineering firm located in Ruston, LA, with a strong emphasis on water resources and water-quality projects. The successful candidate will work primarily on groundwater, industrial wastewater, stormwater management, and surface water–related work, with additional involvement in solid waste and geotechnical projects. Responsibilities include water-focused environmental permitting, monitoring, groundwater statistical analysis, stormwater and wastewater compliance support, CAD drawings, and technical report preparation. The role also includes surface water and groundwater sampling, water-quality monitoring, and facility inspections.
The candidate will assist extensively with field-based water sampling and monitoring activities, including surface water, groundwater, and stormwater systems. A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, biology, or equivalent is required, along with one year of experience in a related work environment. Environmental and water sampling experience is desirable, but not required. The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional requirements include willingness to work weekends and overtime, as well as out-of-town/overnight assignments as required; a safe driving record; and authorization to work in the United States. Typical duties may include performing tasks at field locations, mostly out of town, with significant time spent working outdoors on water-related projects in a wide range of climate conditions. The individual should be physically fit and able to spend extended hours in the field. A positive attitude, attention to detail, strong reporting skills, and the ability to work well with others are essential. Local candidates preferred; no relocation.
